From humble beginnings…to a nationally recognized program.

The Washington School of Photography was founded in 1976, to bring professional photographic education to the Washington, DC/Baltimore metro area. Starting in just two rooms, the workshops and classes quickly grew. In the 1980s, the Professional Photography Program was approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission. ...

Professional Program
Certificate in Professional Photography

Along with our many workshops and special events, we also offer a program of courses leading to a certificate in professional photography. Both serious hobbyists and aspiring professional photographers are welcome to enroll.

Washington Gallery of Photography to Showcase Fine Art Landscapes by Local Artists

(Bethesda, MD) – The Gallery at the Washington School of Photography will host an extraordinary exhibit featuring black and white images by Washington area artists Alain Debrabant and Alfonso Wright. As part of the Bethesda Art Walk, “The A&A Show” will open Friday, May 9.
Camera Club
Camera Club

The WSP camera club meets monthly at WSP to discuss events and developments in the field, then hear a guest speaker, with an emphasis on education. While other local clubs often stress competitive monthly judging, we stress education and non-judged sharing of images. Annual dues are $60, which includes refreshments at each meeting.

(Bethesda, MD) – The Washington School of Photography has introduced a new educational tool into the call for entries submissions process, allowing photographers and other artists to receive critical feedback from jurors about their exhibit submissions.
